Iron Status Blood Test

Iron Status Blood Test

๐Ÿงฒ Iron Status Blood Test at Prescriptions Pharmacy

Comprehensive Iron Profile Blood Test in Prescot โ€“ ยฃ90

๐Ÿ’‰ This advanced iron panel assesses iron levels, iron stores and how your body transports and uses iron โ€” providing a much clearer picture than a simple iron test alone.

๐Ÿงฌ What Does This Test Check?

This panel includes:

๐Ÿงช Iron

๐Ÿงช Ferritin

๐Ÿงช Transferrin

๐Ÿงช Transferrin Saturation

๐Ÿงช Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC)

๐Ÿงช Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity (UIBC)

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Who May This Test Be Suitable For?

This test may be suitable if you:

๐Ÿ˜ด Feel tired, weak or fatigued

๐Ÿฉธ Have suspected or known anaemia

๐Ÿ’‡ Experience hair thinning or brittle nails

๐Ÿงฌ Want to assess iron levels more accurately

๐Ÿ“Š Have abnormal results on previous blood tests

๐Ÿ“Œ Iron-related symptoms can have multiple causes, so results should always be interpreted alongside your clinical picture.

โšก Why Is This More Than Just an Iron Test?

A simple iron test only measures the amount of iron circulating in your blood at that moment.

However, iron levels can fluctuate throughout the day and may not reflect your true iron status.

This test looks at the full picture:

๐Ÿงฒ Ferritin shows how much iron your body has stored

๐Ÿšš Transferrin & TIBC show how iron is transported in the blood

๐Ÿ“Š Transferrin Saturation shows how much of that transport capacity is actually being used

๐Ÿ’ก Ferritin reflects stored iron, while TIBC and transferrin reflect how iron is carried in the blood :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

๐Ÿ’ก Transferrin saturation combines iron and transport capacity to show how much iron is actually available for the body to use :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

โœ”๏ธ Helps detect iron deficiency earlier โœ”๏ธ Helps distinguish between different types of anaemia โœ”๏ธ Helps identify iron overload conditions

โšก Why Are These Markers Important?

๐Ÿงช Iron measures circulating iron in the blood.

๐Ÿงฒ Ferritin reflects iron stores in the body and is one of the most useful markers for iron deficiency.

๐Ÿšš Transferrin is the protein that transports iron around the body.

๐Ÿ“Š Transferrin Saturation indicates how much iron is available for use by cells.

๐Ÿ“ฆ TIBC & UIBC reflect how much capacity your blood has to bind and transport iron.

๐Ÿ’ก Low iron with high TIBC and low saturation is often seen in iron deficiency, while high iron with low TIBC may indicate iron overload :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

๐Ÿฉบ What Happens at Your Appointment?

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ A trained member of the team will take a blood sample

โฑ๏ธ The appointment is usually quick and straightforward

๐Ÿงช Your sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis

๐Ÿ“Š Your results will be provided once available
