At Prescriptions Pharmacy, we provide NHS Pharmacy First assessment and treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs).
π§« UTIs are common infections affecting the bladder and urinary system. They can cause discomfort when passing urine, increased urgency, and lower abdominal pain.
π₯ Eligible patients can be assessed and treated directly by a pharmacist, without needing to wait for a GP appointment.
π₯ Who Is Eligible?
This service may be suitable if:
β You are a woman aged 16 to 64
β You have symptoms of a lower uncomplicated UTI
β Symptoms have started recently
β You are not pregnant
β There are no signs of a more serious infection
π©Ί A private consultation will confirm whether treatment can be safely provided under Pharmacy First.
π Typical Symptoms
Symptoms of a UTI may include:
π₯ Burning or discomfort when passing urine
π» Increased frequency or urgency to urinate
π§ Passing small volumes of urine
π§ͺ Cloudy or strongβsmelling urine
π€ Lower abdominal or pelvic discomfort
Early treatment can help relieve symptoms quickly and reduce the risk of complications.

π Supply antibiotic treatment where clinically appropriate

Pharmacy First may not be appropriate if:
β You are pregnant
β You have fever, chills, nausea, or vomiting
β You have back or flank pain
β There is blood in your urine
β You are male or under 16
β Symptoms are severe, worsening, or recurrent

The Pharmacy First service builds on the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service which has run since October 2019. The consultation service enables patients to be referred into community pharmacy for a minor illness or an urgent repeat medicine supply.
